We have the unique opportunity to educate elected officials and key stakeholders on issues and policies that affect the financial stability of Texas families and local communities.

The Center for Public Policy Priorities, Methodist Healthcare Ministries, and RAISE Texas invite you to the “Strengthening Texas Families” legislative briefing. This important event will discuss Better Texas Family Budgets, Payday & Auto Title Lending, and Barriers to Household Saving.
Agenda:

  • 9:30am-10:00am “A Fighting Chance” a documentary about five families struggling to survive and thrive in Texas
  • 10:00am-11:00am Presentation by Frances Deviney on Better Texas Family Budgets and KIDS Count Data
  • 11:00-11:30am Introduction to key policy actions that can help increase the financial stability of Texas families
  • 11:30am- 12:30pm From the Field- RAISE Texas Members, Julian Huerta (Foundation Communities), Wendy Hanson (United Way of Southern Cameron County), and Fran Rosebush (United Way of Greater Houston) make recommendations on how to fix the issues at hand and increase financial stability for Texas families.
